HOW TO MAKE SHIRDI SAI BABA TEMPLE HALWA PRASAD AT HOME

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple style halwa prasad is a simple and comforting sweet that holds a special place in the hearts of devotees.

Temple-style suji halwa is a classic Indian sweet known for its rich aroma, soft texture, and comforting taste. Made with simple ingredients like semolina, ghee, sugar, and flavored with cardamon powder, this halwa is often prepared as prasad in temples and during festive occasions.

What makes this version special is its balanced sweetness and the generous use of ghee, which gives it that authentic, melt-in-the-mouth texture.

This halwa is also prepared during the occasion of Guru Purnima, a festival dedicated to honoring one’s guru or spiritual teacher. On this day, many devotees make and offer this prasad as a gesture of respect and gratitude. Its simplicity and sweetness make it a meaningful part of the celebration.

In this blog, we’ll share an easy and authentic way to prepare this halwa prasad at home, so you can enjoy a traditional prasad that connects with both Shirdi Sai Baba Temple and the spirit of Guru Purnima.

HOW TO MAKE SHIRDI SAI BABA TEMPLE STYLE HALWA PRASAD – STEP BY STEP RECIPE

  1. Frying the Cashew Nuts and Raisins
  • Heat ⅓ cup of desi ghee (clarified butter) in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of cashew nuts and fry until they turn light golden.
  • Then add 2 tablespoons of raisins and sauté until they become plump.
  • Remove and set aside the fried cashew nuts and raisins to use later in the halwa.

2. Roast the Suji (Semolina)

  • Add ½ cup of suji (semolina) to the pan.
  • Roast it in the existing ghee on low heat, stirring continuously to ensure even cooking.
  • Cook until the suji turns light brown and aromatic, taking care not to let it burn.

3. Cook the Halwa

  • Carefully add 1 cup of boiling water to the roasted suji, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Add sugar as per your taste along with a few saffron strands (kesar). Mix well and continue cooking.
  • Then add another 1½ cups of hot water and keep stirring until the suji cooks fully and reaches a soft, smooth consistency.

4. Finish the Halwa

  • Add 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder along with the fried cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Add the remaining ghee and mix well.
  • Stir until the halwa turns soft and develops a glossy texture.
  • The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple-style halwa prasad is now ready to serve.
