A perfect combination with a cup of hot adrak elaichi wali chai!!

HOW TO MAKE POTATO MASALA SANDWICH (STEP BY STEP RECIPE)

  1. First, we will prepare the Potato filling for the sandwich : Heat 1 tbsp of Oil in a frying pan. In parallel, take 1 tsp each of coriander seeds and cumin seeds and crush them coarsely as shown, not into a powder. Add the crushed cumin and coriander seeds and fry those for few seconds. You will find a very nice aroma coming out which means cumin and coriander are rightly fried now. Next, add 1 tsp of chopped Ginger and 1 tsp of chopped Green chillies and fry for few seconds.

2. Next, add 1 medium size Onion, finely chopped and fry till the raw smell of Onion is gone. Do not over fry, its not needed. A little crunch of the onion will only enhance the flavor of the sandwich. Next, add Salt as per taste, 1/2 tsp of Turmeric powder and 1/4th cup of Green peas. Adding green peas is completely optional. Give a nice stir to mix everything and then cover with a lid and cook the green peas for sometime. Green peas will release water and will get boiled.

3. When the water has dried up and the peas are cooked, open the lid and add all the dry spices as mentioned below :

  • 2 tsp of Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp of Red Chilly Powder
  • 1/2 tsp of Chat Masala
  • 1/4th tsp of Black Salt
  • 1 tsp of roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1 tsp of Anardana Powder ( as a substitute you may use Amchur Powder)

4. Boil 2 large size Potatoes, peel off the skin and mash the potatoes. Add the mashed potato to the with the masala and nicely mix together. Spicy and super tasty potato filling is ready. This potato filling can be used for making aloo samosa also.

5. Take a bread slice, here I have used multigrain bread for making this sandwich. Spread Green Chutney on the bread. Check out the recipe of Green Chutney for sandwiches, which I have used here. Next, spread a generous amount of potato masala. Take another slice of bread and spread tomato ketchup on the inner side. Place the bread on the potato masala. So, our potato masala sandwich is assembled now.

6. Generously spread butter on both sides of the sandwich to grill it. Here, I am using a hand-held toaster to grill the sandwiches. You may grill or toast the sandwiches on a tawa or sandwich griller/toaster. Absolutely, upto your convenience.

7. Cut the sandwiches diagonally and serve with some tomato ketchup and green chutney. You may also give some potato chips or french fries as a side item.

Wow, delicious Potato Masala Sandwich is Ready!!!
