TEMPLE STYLE ELLU SADAM (SESAME RICE)

Temple Style Ellu Sadam or Sesame Rice is a very sacred rice dish offered in many Vishnu or Shiva temples as prasadam. Sesame Rice or Ellu Sadam is a South Indian Rice dish prepared primarily with black sesame seeds and few spices which imparts a nutty spicy flavor to this rice dish and makes it very tasty. In case, black sesame seeds are not available we can use white sesame seeds to prepare this rice dish. In this temple style Ellu Sadam / Sesame Rice recipe, I have used both black and white sesame seeds in 75:25 ratio.

Black Sesame seeds have lot of health benefits which makes this sesame rice an excellent lunch box option for kids and adults. You can also store the Ellu podi that is, spicy sesame seed powder for 2 to 3 weeks and include in your meals.
