Marichi Annam or Marichya Annam or Malahora is Black Pepper Rice is one of the sacred annaprasadam of Tirupati Balaji Temple. Marichi Annam is offered to Lord Balaji during the daily evening prayer in the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple.

HOW TO PREPARE MARICHI ANNAM PRASADAM (STEP BY STEP RECIPE)

Servings : 4 Prep Time : 15 minutes Cooking Time : 15 minutes

  1. Take 1 cup of Raw Rice like Sona masoori rice or Ambemohar rice in a bowl. Add sufficient water to the rice. Wash the rice very nicely for 2 to 3 times and then discard the water.

2. Add 4 cups of Water to the washed Rice. Use the same measuring cup of Rice and Water. Soak the rice for 15 minutes.

3. Take a pressure cooker and add the rice along with the water. Add rock salt as per taste.

4. Cook the rice for 1 to 2 whistles on medium flame. Allow the steam to settle down on its own and then only open the lid of the pressure cooker.

5. After opening the lid of the cooker, use a back of a ladle to mash the rice.

6. Next, add the below ingredients one by one :

Nicely, mix all these ingredients with the rice.

7. Keep the rice covered for 5 minutes and then it will be ready to offer to the lord Balaji. Take a small portion of the Marichi Annam or Malahora or Black Pepper Rice in a clay pot or silver bowl. Put one teaspoon of ghee or clarified butter and sprinkle some freshly crushed black peppercorns on the top and offer to the Lord Balaji.
